amtrak surfliner pacific
is it just me or is amtrak coast starlight really shaky?

i have only rode it once between Los Angeles and santa barbara. is it the path that is shaky or the train? pacific surfliner didnt have this problem at all but that was somewhere else.i would appreciate getting an answer from someone with this experience. thanks.
actually correction: i took pacific surfliner on a shorter distance on the same path and it was fine one way and it was shaky on the way back.
i think it might have been the type of car because on the way back, the car actually felt more like the coast starlight's cars

The Pacific Surfliner has newer cars. The new double deckers are engineered to ride smoother and the entire suspension geometry is different than the older Amtrak cars used on the Coast Starlight, which uses the Superliner cars, originally built by Budd in 1956 and upgraded over the years. These coaches were originally used on the San Diegan traveling the West Coast Corridor route.

The Pacific Surfliners were designed and built by Alstom in Hornell NY in 2000 and delivered during 2000 and 2001. You can readily see right there a 45 year difference in technology that no upgrading can match. PLUS, the Surfliner was designed as a commuter train and the Coast Starlight as a passenger train with sleeping aaccommodationsfor longer distance travel. You'd think they would make it a better platform, but with money being so tight, Amtrak just uses and re-uses what they have in a constant recycling.

A MUST SEE!! Amtrak Pacific Surfliner SMASHES a truck in Oxnard!!!
